Five NWA Naturals selected for Arizona Fall League 2018

FIVE NATURALS SELECTED FOR ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE
Khalil Lee, the Royals’ second-ranked prospect, leads the group of two position players and three pitchers

SPRINGDALE, Ark – The Northwest Arkansas Naturals will be well represented in the upcoming 2018 Arizona Fall League as outfielders Khalil Lee, the Kansas City Royals second-rated prospect according to MLB.com, and Nick Heath have selected along with pitchers Scott Blewett, Grant Gavin, and Walker Sheller to participate in the prestigious league. The Royals prospects will join prospects from the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, and Toronto Blue Jays on the Surprise Saguaros.

Lee, a 20-year-old, headlines the group of Royals prospects headed to Arizona. The left-handed hitting outfielder spent 29 games with the Naturals this season and hit .245 with two home runs, five doubles, 10 RBIs and a pair of stolen bases.

Heath, a former 16th round pick, has been the Naturals’ primary centerfielder as of late. The speedy outfielder has appeared in 33 games and has hit .271 with three doubles, three triples, and 21 runs scored while being a perfect 10-for-10 in stolen bases.

Blewett, the Royals’ 26th ranked prospect according to MLB.com, has been one of the Naturals most consistent starters throughout the year. The former 2nd round draft pick is 8-6 with a 4.89 ERA while striking out 96 in 141.2 innings of work.

Grant Gavin and Walker Sheller, two members of the Naturals’ bullpen, were also selected for the fall league. Gavin has appeared in 20 games and is 0-1 with a 3.26 ERA while Sheller is 3-2 with a 3.42 ERA and has struck out 27 in 50.0 innings.

Another Kansas City prospect, catcher Meibrys Viloria, will also be on the Saguaros roster managed by Cardinals’ minor league skipper Stubby Clapp while the Naturals’ former 2016 hitting coach Brian Buchanan will be the Royals’ coaching representative.

Surprise will be a team to watch throughout the upcoming Arizona Fall League as the ‘Natural Five’ will be joined by the top prospect in all of baseball, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., as well as ninth ranked prospect, Bo Bichette, both of the Toronto Blue Jays in addition to fellow Texas Leaguers Connor Jones, Evan Kruczynski, Jeremy Martinez, Tommy Edman, Andy Young and Lane Thomas of the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis) along with Josh Morgan and Yanio Perez of the Frisco RoughRiders (Texas).
